Today was the first session at our new location, Albion Inn, Boughton Monchelsea, previously known as TheCurious Eatery.
We hosted 8 dads in the private function room upstairs and discussed a number of topics, from Delayed Trauma Recall to the importance of being present and making changes today that future you would be proud of.
We also discussed how social media has an effect on young peoples childhoods. Leading on from this we discussed our own childhood memories… A common theme from all was how nice and long the summers were and the care free nature we had in the 70s, 80s and 90s. Oh how todays children miss out on so many of the freedoms we had back then.
While the larger events bring lots of opportunities for discussion, the smaller sessions always tend to be deeper and more emotionally rewarding for all. It is a privilege to share ourpersonal experiences with others in such focused groups.
Onto the new website, which is jam packed full of features as we finally have a place to publish our calendar of events for the year! Some events are “save the date” with full details to be confirmed closer to the event. We also have space for our news and press articles (many old articles still to be added), and a “Merch shop” so you can become a walking beacon of mental health awareness.
Lastly, while we do not charge for ourface to face events, we have been asked time and time again about how people can donate or sponsor DadSpace on a regular basis. We have introduced 3 membership options. All dads can register to be part of “The Brotherhood” for free, which keeps you in the loop with notifications and will be a great way of tracking the number of members as DadSpace grows!
There is also a “Regular Donor” tier of £5 a month, and a “Super Supporter” tier of £10 a month. Both of these tiers get a discount on Merch and all proceeds go directly into resourcing and growing DadSpace into new locations in the future!
We cannot forget to thank the sponsor of our brand new website, Byford Roofing. Without this generous donation, DadSpace would not have been able to fund this project.
If you would like to discuss a larger donation or volunteering opportunities within DadSpace, please get in touch with us on the following email address: info@dadspace.co.uk
Feel free to check out the new website: www.dadspace.co.uk
Thank you to everyone who attended and The Albion Pub for hosting us today.
